Regional Arts Connect

Regional Arts Connect is a mentoring, information sharing and up-skilling project targeted at regional arts practitioners and young people spanning four remote regions of NSW – the Condobolin/Lake Cargelligo area, Glenn Innes, Coonamble and Broken Hill.

Drawing on 25 years of regional youth arts experience, OTYP is working with these communities to develop their own sustainable youth arts practice. Over 2017 and 2018, OTYP artist Alyson Evans will work closely with individual artists and groups to identify skills gaps and share OTYP’s process and learnings, so that a sustainable approach can be developed to enrich the artistic experiences of young people in these towns.

Regional Arts Connect champions rural and regional young people’s involvement in the arts across regional NSW. Using OTYP’s expertise and experience, and in partnership with Outback Arts, West Darling Arts, Arts North West and Lachlan Arts Council, we are working to build capacity and support the employment and professional development of local arts practitioners, teachers or dramatic societies in order to create sustainable delivery of arts and cultural experiences for young people in the identified areas

In collaboration with Theatre Network NSW, OTYP is establishing an online resource tank and regional youth arts exchange to provide regional organisations with a place they can share resources, convene and support other practitioners state wide. The online resource tank will be launched in 2018.

Regional Arts Connect is funded by Create NSW’s Regional Partnerships fund.
